You can turn plain brown lunch bags into cute handmade gift bags in minutes. Add a stamped kraft tag tied on with twine and you are ready to wrap!
The bags can be cut down for smaller items, all three of the gift bags above started out as the same size lunch bag. To add some extra pizzaz, try trimming the tops of the bags in different ways; I fringed, scalloped and pinked these. You could use smaller bags to hold gift cards.
I used pigment ink for this project as it is bright and opaque and shows up well on the dark kraft colored bags and tags.
This is project is easy enough for your kids to do, and it's an inexpensive way for them to make goodie bags to hold treats for their classmates and teachers too.
So grab some lunch bags and follow these directions to make some handmade bags and tags...
Bags & Tags
Skill Level: easy - kid friendly
SUPPLIES:
Clearsnap: ColorBox Pigment Ink: Scarlet, Fresh Green, Mint, Canary, Silver, Amber Satin, Platinum and Brown
My Sentiments Exactly: Christmas Sentiments, Retro Winter, Christmas Time, Holiday Sentiments and Multi Collage stamp sets
Bazzill: Kraft cardstock
Other: lunch bags, fine black pen and twine
Tools: scissors and hole punch
BASIC DIRECTIONS:
bags:
1) Flatten out bag seam side down.
2) Cut bag down to size and trim top as desired.
3) Ink top edge using Amber Satin, and then add touches of Platinum.
4) Stamp design over front {and back if desired} of bag, stamping off top, bottom and sides.
tags:
1) Stamp design towards top on 3 X 3 pieces of kraft cardstock.
2) Stamp "to" and "from" below design using Multi Collage alphabet set and Brown Ink.
3) Trim tag close to stamped designs, and ink edges using Amber Satin Ink.
4) Punch hole at top left corner and add attach twine with tag tie.
"gift tree" small bag
1) Use small gift box stamp from Christmas Sentiments set and Scarlet and Fresh Green ink to stamp bag.
2) Ink tree stamp from Holiday Sentiments set using Fresh Green for "tree", Scarlet for "stand" and Canary for "star" and stamp tag. {Cat's Eye size inks make this easy to do!}
"winter lights" medium bag
1) Use small, medium and large snowflake stamps from Retro Winter set and Mint ink to stamp bag.
2) Ink bulb portion of pointed ornament stamp {used as a light} from Christmas Time set using Scarlet ink and hook portion with Silver ink {Cat's Eye size inks make this easy to do!} and stamp at top left of tag. Stamp 2 more lights using Fresh Green and Mint across top of tag.
3) When dry, draw in cord along lights.
"joy noel" large bag
1) Use Joy stamp from Christmas Sentiments set and Scarlet ink to stamp bag.
2) Ink Noel stamp from Holiday Sentiments set using Fresh Green for "N" and "L" and Scarlet for "O" and "E" and stamp tag. {Cat's Eye size inks make this easy to do!}
To Finish bags:
Add gifts, gather bag together about 2-3" down from top, wrap ends of twine around and back to front then tie in a bow.
