Fall Blossoms

Hello! Hostess Tami here with a project that reflects the beautiful colors of fall  --- that I am SURE can be found somewhere in the US right now. The only fall color here in Texas is BROWN!

This card features a technique using a Crafter's Workshop Template and Smooch Spritz that was shown step by step in the MONOGRAMMED JOURNAL FOR DAD post from June 10...

I like to S---T---R---E---T---C---H my supplies as far as I can and utilize scraps! If I took the time and materials to make something, I want to use every bit that I can. Thus, the idea of getting double duty from my supplies when I spritz a template.  I realized that there was a LOT of ink left on a template after it was spritzed. In this case, the spritzed paper became the background paper for this card...

So, I simply pressed another piece of paper on top of the template to transfer the ink, creating a positive impression of the template. I used this set of images to cut out the flowers that embellish the card. To add a little more gLitZ to them, I filled in the flower petals using Smooch Accent Inks...

The template measures 6 X 6, so I cut my paper a little larger than I needed for the card. One thing I've found when working with a template, is that it can sometimes move on you, or the colors can run underneath. So, I've found I actually SAVE supplies - paper and Smooch Spritz, by spritzing a piece larger than I need. That way, if a problem occurs, I have a choice as to how to cut my paper and can cut away any areas that didn't turn out as I planned. You can tape your template down to minimize these problems.

But, no fear, the unused portions were not wasted! They were recycled into embellishments for the card!

The sentiment was stamped on a piece that had some stray spritzes...

And thin strips were cut and inked using Smooch to provide some accents...

So, almost every bit of the inky goodness was used. Both the spritzed paper AND the ink left on the template.

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Cut a 8 1/2 X 5 1/4 piece of yellow cardstock and fold in half to make card.
  2. Cut a 7 X 7 piece of ivory cardstock, place in Color Catcher, cover with template and spritz with Smooch Spritz; scattering colors across design. Set paper aside to dry.

  1. This is beautiful! Oh and I hear ya on the color scheme of your world. Hurricane Irene blew into town here on Cape Cod and with all the salt spray all of our leaves are brown AND dead.....at least we know we can create the colors we usually see. Well Done!
