"Witch" Boots?

Hello! Hostess Tami here to share a cute little Halloween card; October is just around the corner, so we'll be sharing more SPOOK-tacular cards and projects in the coming weeks! This card features Top Boss Embossing Powder, Smooch Accent Inks and some cute stamps from Northwoods Rubber Stamps...

The sentiment of the card was originally 4 lines written horizontally across the stamp, but since I wanted the KiTchY witch's boots and stockings to be the focal point, I decided to mask off parts of each line and stamp them individually onto pieces of cardstock. That way, I could break up and scatter the verse along the card. Keep that technique in mind when looking at your stamps, there are usually LOTS of ways you can use them other than how they are designed..

The accent backgrounds were stamped to add a some interest...

Because I did want the Witch's Boots to be the main element, I selected cardstock colors in shades that were lighter than the Smooch Accent Inks that were used to fill in the design; that combined with the shimmer from the Smooch really make them STAND OUT!...

DIRECTIONS:
Notes: To mask off portions of a stamp, use can use a special masking tape that is made just for that purpose or you can use regular masking or gift wrap tape. Or if you are like me and want to do things QUICK, you can grab some scraps of cardstock and set them over portions of the stamp you DON'T want to use. Basically, you want to cover portions of the stamp you don't want to show before you apply the ink, that way, when you remove the masking element and stamp, the stamped image will be only the portion you did want.
  1. Cut a 5 X 5 piece of black cardstock and fold in half to make card.
  2. Cut a 1 1/4 X 4 3/4 piece of lavender cardstock and stamp using web stamp and Wicked Black ink; ink edges using Blackbird Chalk Ink and adhere near top of card.
  3. Cut a 1 5/8 X 3 1/2 piece of orange cardstock and stamp using scroll stamp and Wicked Black ink; ink edges using Blackbird Chalk Ink and adhere near left side of card.
  4. Cut a 3 X 3 1/2 piece of kraft cardstock and stamp using Witch's Leg stamp and Tinted Embossing Pad, then emboss using Black Embossing Powder. Fill in image using Smooch Accent Inks; ink edges using Blackbird Chalk Ink and adhere near right side of card.
  5. Working with 1/2 of each line of the verse, mask off the other portions and ink stamp using Tinted Embossing Pad, stamp on pieces of orange, yellow and light green cardstocks and emboss using Black Embossing Powder. Cut around close to the words and ink edges using Blackbird Chalk Ink. Arrange as shown on card, using 3D squares to adhere "Halloween night".
Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here before you know it! Tune in to the Clearsnap Blog for projects that will let you get a jump start on these holidays!
