Faux Encaustic Mini Books

Recycled manga, and faux encaustic techniques come together to make a beautiful hand bound mini book today.
I'm Diana, and here's my project for today:

To bind this book I used chipboard coasters. You can find these on etsy, or if you've got a bar tender friend, just recycle them.
The book cover is covered with japanese manga, and then I rubbed some pigment ink Cat's Eye's in the shade set of "Funky". I used the top light blue shade and then rubbed the edges with the dark blue shade.
Heat it with a heat gun to dry.
I happen to love block printing, so I took a block that I have just finished, and printed it with a Colobox Crafter's Ink in "Wave".
Then, heat it to dry with a heat gun.
In my art I love to go over my art with a coat of beeswax. It's a nice bit of encaustic work that makes the whole piece come together. So for this piece, I used a similar technique, only using Embossing enamel.
After that, go over the whole think with clear embossing ink, and powder, and heat it with your heat gun. Do this several times until you've got a nice clear top coating.
This was so much fun. I hope you try this!

  1. I adore mini books...this one is just fabulous. The color is dreamy, and I like the texture and "random" pattern, too. Wow!
