Hello Inky Crafters!
Hostess Tami here today with a pretty little tag that will turn your thoughts towards Spring. I realize it's only February 4, and I know Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog, saw his shadow which means 6 more weeks of winter. But tell THAT to my pear tree which is budding early.Winters are usually mild here in Texas, so we are already seeing a few signs of Spring. But we aren't done with winter yet as rodeo-season, which is coming up in a few weeks, always brings with it cold, sleet, drizzle and wet winter yuckies!
So, while the weather's mild, trees are budding and tiny green shoots are peeking out, I found some Spring inspiration...
The NEW! ColorBox Limited Edition Pigment Inks were used to create this tag. The new ink colors are fabulous, and they are perfect to use on your Spring projects. They are soft and romantic, but more dramatic than plain pastels, with a few bold notes for emphasis. ColorBox Pigment Inks are creamy and smooth and blend beautifully, even on plain cardstock or this manilla tag.
If you'd like to make this project yourself, or see how it was done, I've shown the process step-by-step on this short, less than 2 minute video. You can pause or rewatch while you are working if you like...

Designer Tips:
- When layering designs using Pigment Inks, I like to "partially" heat set areas that I don't want completely embossed if I will be adding embossed layers. I like the "distressed" look you can create by having portions of the design embossed and other parts not embossed. Also, you can lightly blend over the non-embossed areas to create a "misty" look - like the "journey" corner of the tag.
- For this altered tag, I partially heat set both the base colors and the script. Then when I stamped and embossed the flowers, portions of the base and script, that weren't set, were embossed as well.
- Portions of the non-set and un-embossed areas were blended when I distressed the edges of the tag.
- To further "soften" non-set and un-embossed areas, I lightly went over them with Stylus and a clean white tip; creating a "misty" look.
- I also like to layer on different colors of Pigment Inks on my stamp to create highlights and shadows in the stamped image, or just to add color variations. I used the Berry and Raisin inks to stamp the flowers so there were would lighter and darker areas in the design. Using the Stylus and Tip to add additional colors will keep you from contaminating your ink pads with other ink colors.
