How to Destroy Ribbon (for fun of course!)

As a lover of vintage style I find myself frequently finding ways to make new stuff look old. One of my favorite techniques lately has been to take a heat gun to nylon ribbon and create a vintage and sometimes creepy effect. Add in some Clearsnap embossing powder and you can double the coolness factor! Here is a little tag I made for Halloween I used my distress technique twice, once as layer on the tag and again on the tag tie.

grab a tag and with your rollagraph-roll some dots then immediately add some clear embossing powder on top

then give a good smooch spritz- I used Carrot Cake

choose a coordinating background layer-ink all edges and attach background with foam adhesive

cut out a square of organza ribbon (if you dont have the extra wide like I do you can use two or thee pieces) and attach it to your background with some adhesive or hot glue- just a little right in the center where my finger is

add your focal piece- in this case I have a chipboard tag that I inked

attach focal piece over the top

and fire away! You will notice the more heat you add, the more the ribbon shrivels and shrinks

here is the finished distressed ribbon-you can even trim it after to get the right shape

Then I wanted some Halloween twine- but only had black and white-so I smooched it and rolled it around until it was coated! I feel like I just multiplied my twine stash ten fold! Think of all the colors you can dye with your smooch!

Then I added a little sentiment sticker, backed with some burlap for texture

a little glitter gypsum

Here is the ribbon, and I will show you the video technique below!
