Stamping on Expressions Tapes

Hi, Jean Okimoto here - let's get started on our Valentine cards today!

Here's a technique I've shared before - creating colorful,  unique tapes using our favorite stamps, inks and Scotch Expressions Tapes.

  • ColorBox Archival Dye Inkpads - Wicked Black and Pinkolicious (*Page 31)
  • ColorBox Stylus and White Blending Tip (*Page 81)
Stamps
  • Memory Box - Mail Definitions Background, Love and Hearts (tiny hearts attached to the side)
  • Impress Rubber Stamps - Typewriter, Honeycomb Background, Scattered Hearts Background
Other Supplies
  • Glossy White Cardstock
  • White Cardstock (5.5" square card)
  • Black Cardstock
  • Scotch Expressions Tape - Salmon, Orange, Pink
  • Heat-Tool
  • Memory Box Cupid Heart Die
  • Spellbinders Grand Calibur and Plates
  • Craft Knife, Ruler, Cutting Mat
  • Screwpunch
  • Pewter Mini-brads
  • Foam Dots
Directions
  • Attach strips of tape to a cutting mat and stamp them with Wicked Black and the background stamps
  • Carefully heat-set the inks - use  brief bursts of heat and let the tapes to cool off between heat applications
  • Trim the tape into 1/2" wide strips and attach five strips to the card
  • Attach criss-crossed trimmed scraps of the heart-stamped Orange tape over the larger strips
  • Diecut the Cupid Heart from scrap paper and use the negative to stencil Pinkolicious onto glossy white cardstock with the Stylus and Tip
  • Dry the ink
  • Stamp Typewriter and "love" onto the stenciled heart and dry the ink
  • Mat it with black cardstock and attach mini-brads
  • Attach it to the card with foam dots
Hope you like the project - and the bright colors!
