Hello, hostess Tami here with another project using this month's spotlight product...
Molding Mats!
As promised, this bracelet was made with the clay that was leftover from the altered tin project, Butterflies in Black and White, that I posted on March 4...
Leftover black polymer clay always seems to dry out on me, no matter what type of container - airtight or otherwise - that I store it in. So since I had just a little bit of clay leftover from the project, I decided I may as well use it.
The clay was already conditioned, so I just needed to give it one more pass in the clay conditioner to get it to the thickness I needed. I placed the Zebra Molding Mat over the clay, and with the clay conditioner set on the thickest setting, ran the clay and the mat through it, holding and guiding the clay and mat as I rolled. Running the Molding Mat and the clay through the clay conditioner together creates a deeply embossed design on a thin piece of clay.
I placed the clay on a piece of parchment paper, then used a cutter to cut out circles. I used a coffee stirrer to add holes at opposing ends of each circle. The pieces were then baked according to the package directions on the clay.
Once cooled, I used Green Apple Smooch Accent Ink to fill in the impressed designs and heat set using a heat gun. Then a coat of Lime Twist Smooch Glitz was added for some sParKLe! Here's a closeup of the finished pieces...
The pieces were linked together with jump rings and a toggle closure added to the ends completes the bracelet.
