The Night Before Christmas...

"Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse"...

I don't know about creatures, but I bet PLENTY of moms and dads will be "stirring" tonight trying to finish up last minute holiday surprises for their kiddos. Those bikes and doll houses don't put themselves together! And somehow, there always seems to be a gift or two that missed being wrapped. Or a finishing touch that still needs to be put on a special gift you made yourself.

The star on the holiday season is about to rise and all the preparations and crafting projects that you've been working on for weeks will be shining too.

The project I wanted to share with you today is a Christmas themed scrapbook layout. Every year, I take a photo of the kids sitting in front of the tree. So when I saw the Merry Doodles template from Crafter's Workshop, I thought it would be perfect to use to create a layout for the photo. And Clearsnap's creamy, smooth and blend-able Pigment Inks were the perfect ink choice...

I used a stylus to apply the inks, and used two shades of each color to add highlights to the images. The stylus makes it easy to keep the ink where you want it and to avoid getting a mix of colors on your ink pads. I applied the design on a tone on tone printed paper so that the pattern would show through the inks and add some "texture".

There were two colors of blue in my photo; blue and aqua, but the accent paper I wanted to use only had the aqua. So I used my Azure Smooch Accent Ink to recolor the dots on the paper to make them match the blue in the photo. The precision tip on the brush in the cap lets you fill in even the smallest spaces.
