Welcome Little One with Guest Designer Jen Goode

I’m a big fan of penguins. I collect penguins, take pictures of them whenever I see them (including on TV shows) and I even have my own line of cartoon penguins. That said, April 25th is World Penguin Day, so when I was asked if I wanted to created something for this month’s blog, penguins were first inline as a theme for me. The theme here on the Clearsnap blog is baby, so what better idea than to have a mama and baby penguin!?

For this project I used a variety of techniques including Q-tip coloring, glitter and Rollograph stamping.

Mama and Baby Penguin Card by Jen Goode

Materials:
●     ColorBox Fluid Chalk Paintbox Primary Pastels - wisteria, blue iris and blue lagoon
●     Smooch Spritz Ginger Ale
●     Top Boss® Watermark Twinkle
●     Glue Gloss
●     Grape Soda Smooch
●     Mama and Baby digital stamp set by Jen Goode, printed on cardstock
●     White cardstock, coordinating ribbon and buttons

●     Tools:

Scissors, glue and Q-tips

Step-by-step instructions to make this pretty in pink baby card

1.    Cut out Penguin and heart art pieces. Cut out a heart shaped card using the large printed heart as a template. Make sure to leave a portion of the top edge connected so your card opens correctly. Hint: I used a textured white cardstock to add a little extra interest when coloring and stamping.
2.    Using Fluid Chalk ink pad and a Q-tip to color the penguins using the 3 purple/blue shades of ink. Color the inside heart edge with blue lagoon ink.

3.    Using the rollagraph with Mixed Dot roller and Blue Lagoon ink pad, create a background pattern. Repeat as the color fades to add some dimension to your background pattern.

4.    Add sparkle accents using the Rollagraph and twinkle ink on the inside of the card. Add Smooch Spritz on the outside of the card. Add a little details of shimmering color on the penguins using Smooch.  Let dry.
5.    Apply glue gloss to blank background areas of penguin art and outer edge of card inside heart. Sprinkle glitter to cover, then tap off excess.

6.    Adhere penguin art to outside front of card. Adhere message heart to inside of card.

I wrote the message on the inside by hand using a fine point blue Sharpie. You could stamp a message here instead if you’d like.
