Romantically Peachy Valentine

Hello Inky Crafters, hostess Tami here again with a card to share...

When I say Valentine's Day... what colors pop into your mind? Red and pink? Those are after all the "traditional" Valentine's Day colors. But there are lots of other color combos that can be just as romantic and just as fitting for this special day of love.

This month, I'll be bringing you a couple of cards that are not your traditional red and pink Valentine's. Like this one done in shades of peach, coral and brown...

This card would be suitable for the special man in your life as it's not TOO fussy. The colors aren't overly feminine and the browns "man up" the shades of peach. The pleated ribbon with lace edging and bow trim reminded me of a garter after I'd finished it --- wink ;0 wink ;0 --- But I also think its frilly enough for mom, sis, grandma or your gal pals too.

Like Cathie, in her JANUARY 13th POST, I too started with white cardstock. White, Kraft and Black cardstock are my go-to colors. With the rainbow of colors and the multitude of different types of products Clearsnap makes; you can transform plain, white cardstock into an endless number of shades to mix and match on your project as you like. Which is great since you don't have to keep a large assortment of colored cardstock on hand, or spend hours trying to find that elusive "perfect" cardstock color you need. Just make your OWN colored cardstock for a perfect match every time.

For this project, I started with Smooch Spritz in Cashmere, a pretty pinkish-brown, to add both color and shimmer. When the Smooch had dried, I used a template from Crafter's Workshop to stencil on a dainty damask pattern using 2 shades of ColorBox Pigment Ink; Cocoa and Stucco. I used the Stylus & Tip to apply the ink, which is the perfect way to add a stenciled design. Using the Stylus & Tip allows you have better control of both the direction and quantity of ink you add...

Next, to add some contrast, I stamped some swirls along the bottom of the card base using a stamp set from My Sentiments Exactly in Brown and Stucco Pigment Ink...

Also like Cathie, I selected an one of Clearsnap's ink sets in order to get colors that played well together. Cathie used the a ColorBox Petal Point Ink set for her project and I chose to use a ColorBox Pigment Ink Queue; Rich Rustics. Picking ink colors that work together is simple when you use ColorBox's Pigment Ink Queues or Petal Point sets. They come ready made with perfectly coordinated ink colors...

The heart embellishment was created using a NEW set of Design Adhesives... Vintage Heart. The package contains 4 sheets, each with a heart and 2 coordinating scrolls...

The heart design was embossed using Truffle Mix'd Media Inx Embossing Powder, a deep, rich reddish brown, which works well with the other colors of the card...

The vintage seam binding, which had been "smooched" with Cashmere Smooch Spritz, was pleated along a strip of double sided tape. The lace trim below the ribbon was also "smooched", but with Spun Sugar and Log Cabin. Then the bow and hanging "love" tag were added as the finishing touch...

Both the "love" and the sentiment designs are from My Sentiments Exactly, and were both stamped using Brown Pigment Ink. The edges of the diecut mat and the stenciled background were done using Stucco Pigment applied using the Stylus & Tip.
