Today I have another "on the cheap" project idea for you.
This fall decor frame might look nice nestled among fall flowers on your table or mantle, or on a side table all by itself this Thanksgiving...
I think the quote, "too much of a good thing can be WONDERFUL", applies nicely to family {provided they don't linger TOO long over the pumpkin pie!} The wood mount stamp, A Good Thing, is part of Hampton Art's 7 gypsies collection.
I started with an inexpensive $2 wood frame from a craft store. I sprayed it with 3 colors of Stephanie Barnard Sprays! - Banana, Tangerine and Artichoke. After the frame had dried, I lightly sanded it to soften the colors and add a distressed look...
For the quote, cream cardstock was lightly spritzed with Spun Sugar and Sun Kissed Smooch Spritz. Once dry, the quote was stamped and embossed using Truffle Mix'd Media Inx and matching Mix'd Media Embossing Powder.
The leaves were made by first spritzing kraft cardstock with Sun Kissed, Gingersnap, Limolicious, Spun Sugar and Log Cabin Smooch Spritz. Spray the colors in different areas of the cardstock, letting some overlap. When the cardstock is dry, apply leaves cut from Feels Like Fall Design Adhesives. Designer Foils in Lucky Penny were applied over the Design Adhesives to add a touch of metallic...
One BIG hint is to make VERY sure that the spritzed cardstocks for the background of the quote and for the leaves are COMPLETELY dry before you work on them. The embossing powder will stick to any damp areas for the quote and the Design Adhesives for the leaves won't stick if the cardstock is not totally dry.
Great frame art! Fall is my favorite time of year!

What a neat idea. The frame could also be used as a menu holder.

ReplyDeleteGreat frame, Tami. I haven't tried the Design Adhesives yet, but maybe if I win some, (hint, hint, nudge, nudge) I will be able to try them. I love all the colors you spritzed together to get the wonderful fall colors. I need to try this, but I know "very gently" or you end up with MUD! Have a nice holiday.
