Hi - a bit early in the year for a birdie card - but it felt like spring had arrived in Seattle today. Jean Okimoto here - and we're playing with water and inks again.
The new Funky ColorBox Limited Edition Queue has great colors - Pool, Abyss, Cupid, Turtle, Iris and Pepper - for this spring-inspired design.
Press Pool, Turtle and Iris onto an acrylic block and spritz it lightly with water. Tilt it to let the inks blend a bit.
Ink the Memory Box Solid Madeleine Bird with the blended colors and stamp it several times on white cardstock - don't clean the stamp, just rotate it between stampings. Heat-set the inks. Use a stamp positioner to stamp the details with Outline Madeleine Bird and Pepper. Emboss them with detail clear powder. Cut the birds out with the Outline Madeleine Bird Die. Punch a small hole on scrap paper and use the hole to stencil a tiny dot of Pepper for the eyes. Heat-set the dots. Ink the edges of the diecuts with Pool, Iris and Turtle and heat-set them.
Clean the acrylic block, ink it, spritz it and let the inks begin to blend again. Press it onto white cardstock. Remove the block, rotate it, and press it onto the inked cardstock again. Heat-set the inks.
Stamp Vintage Dreams over the inks with Pepper - at an angle - then emboss it with detail clear powder. Diecut three wings (the wing die is included with the Outline Madeleine Bird Die) and ink the edges with Pool, Turtle and Iris. Heat-set the inks. Attach the wings with foam dots.
Stamp Journey Collage on Hyacinth Cardstock with Iris and emboss it with Opalescent Clear Powder. Use a chalk applicator to highlight "journey" with Pool.
Mat the left side with Kiwi Vellum. Attach the birds to the collage - use foam dots for the tails. Attach everything to a 4-5/8" x 6-1/4" card of Violet Cardstock. Attach mini-brads on the left side.
