Hello inky friends! It might still be snowy where you live (it is here at least) but I am already starting to think about spring and all the colorful accessories that go along with this time of year. Enter today's project tutorial - textured beads created with Molding Mats and Colorbox Crafter's Ink.
The Molding Mats are great for adding texture to pliable surfaces - clay, dough, gesso, glue - and can also be stamped on paper, fabric, etc. These beads were created using a simple salt dough recipe but store bought clay would work just as well.
Clay Bead Recipe
1 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
1/8 cup water
Blend flour and salt. Add water a little at a time until dough is formed. If it is too sticky, add more flour. Roll out dough, add texture using Molding Mats. Cut out bead shapes and bake in oven at 300 degrees for about an hour. Beads should be hard throughout and lightly browned on the edges. Allow to cool, then paint as desired.
These beads were painted with Colorbox Crafter's Ink, which is an amazing permanent and waterproof (when heat set) ink that is great for using on surfaces other than paper - but it does work on paper too!
