Hello, Sabrina here with you today to share a quick and sweet mini brag book and a fun technique for making any of your ink types embossable with our new Watermark Twinkle ink.
When you are scrapbooking out of the house do you like to bring all your supplies along or try to keep it to a minimum? I know if I took along every type of ink pad I owned it would take up an entire table! So here is a little trick to cutting down on your supply packing while still having all the tools you need on hand - use your Watermark Twinkle ink (or plain Watermark for no sparkle effects) to double stamp on top of your non-pigment inks when you want an embossed image! The soft quality of chalk inks or the crisp color of dye inks with all the dimensional quality of pigment!
I used this trick on the 'Baby' title here and then filled in the empty area with a bit of Smooch in Gold Lame. For a soft look on the tin, which was spray painted white, a bit of Chalk Ink in Gray Whale does the trick. Yes, chalk ink dries on slick metal surfaces as well!! Love that stuff!
This mini book is tiny - measuring just larger than 3"x3" - and because it's enclosed in a tin from the Basic Necessities line, it is perfect for a new parent/grandparent/proud older sibling to tote around in their bag without any worries of bending or tearing those precious memories. There are 6 pages total, creating by simply accordian folding a 3"x12" piece of double sided paper.
It also uses a mixture of premade and ink-made papers and embellishments which makes life easier for new moms who want to create a keepsake for grandparents but still captures all the depth and personalization that one can achieve by adding ink. Dabbing on a bit of Chalk Ink with a template stencil gives the paper an aged look.
If you are making this album as a gift for a new parent or grandparent, it's great to include suggestions on what to add on each page - photos + sizes, stats or any other info you may want to include so it can be easily printed to fill in the blanks. Line the edges of your papers and embellishments with Chalk Inks for a bit of soft dimension.
Did you see Tami's fantastic tutorial for creating your own washi tape last weekend? I made some for this mini but instead of white masking tape (which I did not have on hand) I stamped on some lightweight copy paper and added double sided tape to the back for a similar effect. It's all about making what you have work for you!
The back page contains a small pocket for housing small momentos and extra photos. A stamped image accented with Smooch adds so much to a plain patterened paper!
Even if there isn't a new baby coming into your life, this mini works for so many other occasions as well. Tucked away in a tin, this mini is sturdy, portable and makes a great (and easy to make) gift for your loved ones.
Thank so much for joining me today!
