A "WELCOME BABY" KEEPSAKE.

Hi everyone. Cathie Allan here, with a baby card that is suitable for framing .... or rather, "used as a frame" for a very special little one. We will start out with white card stock and then with a beautiful palette of colors from Clearsnap's, Fluid Chalk line we will create a keepsake to be treasured for years.

Using a great stamp sets from Stephanie Bernard's, "Stamps of Life", "friends4ever"set, we will use the solid leaf and ice blue, Fluid Chalk to simply stamps "first value" images around 3 of the edges of a 6X6 panel. This means ink your stamp, stamp the image, re ink and then stamp again. Repeat until your panel resembles the sample.

Using your Clearsnap, sylus and a white foam tip (I think of these as my paintbrushes for my stamp pads) apply "extra", ice blue, Fluid Chalk over and around the "first value" images you just stamped. Use your stylus and foam tip in a "buffing motion". Not a lot of pressure, just a gentle "float" as you work in small circles not much bigger than the stylus itself. This will result in a even distribution of your color.

Now, using ice jade, Fluid Chalk, stamp the solid leaf , again in first values over the previous layer.
Cut the frame for your photo with a "Sizzix" die, "frame, decorative rectangle #2" from a piece of "Superstock" (double thick, 130lb, white matte, card stock). Use your stylus and white foam tip to "make it wisteria" with your wisteria, Fluid Chalk stamp pad. Allow it to dry and then after covering it with "Top Boss" clear (use your stylus and a white foam tip to accomplish this to protect your pad), emboss it with "Clearsnap's" clear embossing powder. Coat the small heart with ice blue, Fluid Chalk and emboss this too. Create your text panel by using the techniques described above to alter a small panel of Superstock and then stamp "welcome baby"(from the "sweet4babies" set from Stephanie Barnard's, "Stamps of Life") with the wisteria, Fluid Chalk stamp pad. I cut another heart from the "Sizzix" die, altered that just like the first one and added that to the text panel. Along the bottom of the panel I used a border from the "sweet4babies" set and simply stamped that along the bottom in the wisteria, Fluid Chalk. Alter a ribbon (this was white as well) with your wisteria, Fluid Chalk and iron with a hot, dry iron to set the ink. REMEMBER ... "Fluid Chalk" is a blend of ink, pigment and dye making this ink a "multi-surface" ink. You just have to "love that"! Assemble as shown.

At this point I decided to creatively trim this front panel down so I could add another layer to this "keepsake". So, using your favorite craft knife & cutting board trim the panel as shown. Save the pieces that you trim away to be used on the interior of your card/keepsake.

Recreate the first 6X6 panel only this time, using your Clearsnap, stylus and white foam tip, apply some of the wisteria, "Fluid Chalk" to the edges for some extra depth. Then using your favorite marker add edging and details as shown. Did you notice that the choice of colors for this project were chosen from the photo that I used. I love that my photos are the palette for my projects and therefore my wonderful stamp pads (don't forget the re inkers) and my glorious stamps allow me to create custom paper, frames and embellishments for all of my projects. I AM THE PRINTER (lol).
Use foam tape to attach the "creatively cut, 1st panel to this second panel and then attach the finished panel to a 6X6 card. ENJOY!
