We're creating with our friends from Xyron all this week! We're so excited to share some inspiring projects and tips and tricks for using Xyron adhesive products with Clearsnap's ink, glitter, and more!
After checking out all our projects here, head on over to the Xyron blog for more crafty inspiration!
Today, Hostess Tami Sanders is here to share a project utilizing the 5" Create-A-Sticker from Xyron...
Hello! I love to collage and transform plain paper mache' and wood items by covering them with papers, especially old book pages. But it is usually a messy process involving a liquid adhesive. I tend to end up with more paper stuck to my hands than I do on the project!
Recently I found some $1 paper mache' apples that I knew would look great covered in pieces of vintage book paper. I decided to try running the papers through the Xyron 5" Create-A-Sticker instead of using a liquid glue. AMAZING how much easier it was to apply the papers! No muss, no fuss and best of all CLEAN HANDS!
Here's what I did...
First, I placed the book pages in the Color Catcher and spritzed them with Smooch Spritz; I used two shades of Smooch for each color of apple...
And set the pages out to dry...
Then, after the pages had dried, I tore them in strips to fit in the Create-A Sticker Machine and ran the strips through to apply the adhesive to the back {that's my oldest Drew, helping me out}...
You'll save adhesive if you run your pieces through end to end, one right after another, instead of waiting for one piece to come out before inserting the next one.
Next, I tore the strips into smaller pieces - the adhesive backing tears very easily...
Removed the backing...
And applied the paper pieces to the apples...
I kept tearing and applying pieces until the entire apple was covered. Then I gently rubbed over the whole piece using my fingers to make sure the paper pieces were securely applied.
And tada! A trio of deliciously colorful apples, perfect for fall decor --- or as a "word-ful" gift for a favorite teacher...

ReplyDeleteI love to us my Xryon products when making cards
ReplyDeleteI like the book pages rather than scrapbook and the two different colors of spritz makes them more 'delicious' apples.
ReplyDeleteChipboard is a good medium for Xyron tape because it is difficult to stick because of the thickness.
