Mixed Media Magic Week with Susan K. Weckesser - DAY 3!

We're so excited to be teaming up with our friend Susan K. Weckesser and her team this week. We first met Susan at a trade show a few years back -- her happy smile, whimsical art, and joy for life were so contagious, we connected with her from the get-go!

Today, Creative Team Member Suzanne Austin shares a STUNNING Mixed Media canvas, with Susan's house image as the focal point:

Hey everyone!  Thanks for hopping along with us today! Suzanne here to share a mixed media canvas that I've created using papers, stencil, and stamps from Susan K.Weckesser Designs and LOADS of Clearsnap inks!!! 

I TRIED VERY HARD not to create another house canvas (I naturally gravitate to them when I dabble in mixed media), but the house from the "Live, Love, Create" paper from Susan's "Live In Color" collection called out to me :D....that's my story and I'm sticking to it! At any rate, I had loads of fun creating this canvas. Almost all of the "painting" I did with my fingers (namely the trees, flowers, and shading) using a healthy mix of ColorBox Donna Salazar Designs Mix'd Media Inx Refills, ColorBox Premium Archival Dye Ink Refills, gesso, and acrylic paint.   

The pre-designed house was a great starting point and creativity jump-start!  I did lots of shading to the house to make the colors pop using Smooch Accent Inks and ColorBox Pigment Inks.  I heat set all inks before sealing the canvas with Beacon's Fast Finish Decopauge.  

If you look closely, I sprinkled Clearsnap Donna Salazar Designs Fairy Dust Glitter in "Sugar Shimmer" over the sky which adds to the whimsy of the piece.  The saying is from Susan's "Celebration of Simple" stamp set by Unity Stamps.  I also used a really dandy and versatile Susan K. Weckesser Designs stencil for the numbering!
