Flowers for Mom

Hello, hostess Tami here with a card for Mother's Day. Mother's Day comes early this year, May 12, so it's not too soon to start thinking about cards and gifts for this very special person.

This card features a soft floral background that was created using a fun technique; one even young kids can do or help with...

The ColorBox Sunrise Petal Point Chalk Ink set is so soft and feminine with pinks, peaches, corals and reds. The colors in the set remind me of my grandmother's rose garden. It seemed a perfect choice to use on a Mother's Day card...

I wanted to create a soft pretty background for the card using all the colors in the Sunrise Petal Point set, so I decided to pair the inks with the Rollagraph Jumbo Handle and a Jumbo Design Wheel. I ran the wheel across the inks, being careful to stop and start so that I would not run an inked portion of the wheel across the pad and mess up the colors. Then I just ran the wheel randomly across a piece of white cardstock, going over the paper again and again until all the ink had been transferred...

Older kids could ink up the wheel themselves while you'd have to ink it up for the younger kiddos. But once the wheel is inked, any age could easily run the wheel over the paper to create the background.

The inked cardstock was then diecut using the largest die with the next to smallest nested inside at the upper left. {You want the window opposite where you need it so that when you place your paper face down and cut, it will end up at the upper right.} The negative piece was used as well, trimmed down to fit as a mat.

The sentiment was stamped using Warm Red Ink, and adhered slightly down and to the right of the space it was diecut from.

A single flower was stamped as well by inking up the flower on the Jumbo Design Wheel with Warm Red Ink and rolling it on white cardstock; the flower was then cut out. Rouge Ink was used to shade the petals and to distress the edges of the inked pieces once...

A bit of ribbon and a button tied with twine finish off the card.
