Here's how to create the look:
Punch about 20-40 circles from each piece of 5 sheets of patterned paper. More paper is required for the patterns that are to cover the Equator of the globe and less paper for the patterns near the poles.
Start at the bottom of the globe with the darkest paper and work in layers, layering progressively paler circles, moving from the south to the north. Ink all the edges of the circles with ColorBox Fluid Chalk Ink in coordinating colors.
Next create two flowers from the phone book (free!) using Eileen Hull's Fresh Vintage Flowers, 3-D #2 Die by Sizzix. Why use a vintage book when you have thousands of pages of similar paper sitting somewhere in your house, collecting dust? I don't know why they make phone books anymore but now, I am watching to make sure I get mine!!
Spray Smooch Spritz in Gold Glow on a piece of wax paper or foil so the ink pools. Drag the tips of the flower petals through the ink. This results in a really intense shine, as if the petals were dipped in gold. It's one of my all-time fave techniques!
Dye a piece of seam binding with Gold Glow Smooch Spritz and a tiny bit of Spun Sugar Smooch Spritz to "vintage" it up. Hot glue all the bits and pieces to the globe in a cluster on the northern hemisphere.

Many of us are cleaning out closets this week, looking for places to put away all our gifts from the season. Before you toss out that old, seemingly destroyed item, consider breathing new life into it by altering it! You never know what you might create...
