Party Like It's 1912!

Almost Happy New Year!
Tami here today, and NO, my clock did not lose a century. I just thought it might be fun to ring in 2012 with a little vintage-inspired style.

This month's theme was up-cycling; reusing and re-purposing --- trash to treasure. So when I ran across an old song book at an estate sale, I knew just what I wanted to do with it...

Create a crown with an old fashioned design, but with a little modern bLinG...

I started with a cardboard frame, then covered it using music paper. I then placed the pieces in the Color Catcher and spritzed them using Gold Glow Smooch Spritz.

When the pieces dried, I used templates from Crafter's Workshop to apply scattered designs in ColorBox Silver Pigment Ink and for MORE bLinG, embossed them using Opalescent Clear Embossing Powder.

Then because you JUST can't have TOO much bLinG, I used Fast Finish by Beacon to apply a freeform line of Pralines & Cream Fairy Dust Glitter around the edges of all the pieces...

The centerpiece at the front of the crown was made by stamping a frame design from a Hot Off The Press Christmas Set {repurpose!} onto cardstock with Watermark Ink and embossing it using Top Boss Gold Embossing Powder. The design was then cut out and spritzed using Gold Glow Smooch Spritz...

The flower design at the center was made using a diecut from Sizzix and silver metallic paper from Hot Off The Press...

At the center of the flower is a button bLiNgeD up using the NEW Goldrush Smooch Glitz and topped with a rhinestone...

The "12" was stamped and embossed on cardstock using a stamp set from My Sentiments Exactly, Watermark Ink and Top Boss Gold Embossing Powder. They were also spritzed using Gold Glow Smooch Spritz and once dry, distressed using ColorBox Silver Pigment Ink...

A set of vintage clock hands were adhered between the flower and button and arranged to point to a tick before midnight...

Plain white tissue paper was spritzed with Gold Glow Smooch Spritz and pleated around the oval centerpiece and inside the crown. The tissue around the centerpiece was edged using Goldrush Smooch Glitz...

Holes were punched in the ends of the crown bands and threaded with vintage white seam binding that had been tinted using Silver Foil and Gold Glow Smooch Spritz...

Leftover bits of ribbon were folded into loops and arranged around the crown center...
