New Year Wishes

Hi - Jean here - sharing a simple, contemporary New Year design.  I love mixing the shades of Curry, Deep Lagoon and Charcoal as much as I love circles - and celebrating the arrival of 2012 is the perfect time to combine all of those elements onto a single card.

The border stamps are from the great Curvaceous Borders cling set by Hampton Art.  The new year greeting is from their Studio G cling set. "2012" is simply printed onto white cardstock in the Century Gothic font.  It couldn't get any easier than that!

Here are the directions for this card:

Clearsnap Products:
Yellow Citrus and Deep Lagoon ColorBox Fluid Chalk Inkpads
Fancy Borders Design Adhesives
Charcoal and Twinkling Turquoise Glitter

Stamps
  • Hampton Art Curvaceous Borders Cling Set
  • Hampton Art Studio G Set (happy NEW YEAR)
Other Supplies
  • Paper Accents Dusk Cardstock (3-3/4" x 8-1/2" card)
  • Memory Box Celery Cardstock
  • White Cardstock
  • Turquoise Cardstock Scrap
  • Detail Clear Embossing Powder
  • Corner Rounder Punch
  • 3/8" Circle Punch
  • Soft Round Paintbrush
  • Rotating Leather Punch (small hole on the tag)
  • May Arts Silver Cord
  • Bone Folder
  • Scor-Tape
  • Foam Dots
Directions
  • Stamp the narrow circle border on white cardstock with Yellow Citrus
  • Stamp the wider circle border over it with Deep Lagoon
  • Trim the cardstock
  • Attach Scor-Tape to a scrap of turquoise cardstock, then brush Twinkling Turquoise Glitter onto the adhesive
  • Punch three 3/8" circles of the glittered cardstock and attach it to the border
  • Burnish the Fancy Borders pattern onto Celery Cardstock and brush Charcoal Glitter onto the adhesive pattern
  • Print "2012" on white cardstock
  • Stamp the new year greeting above it with Curry and emboss it with detail clear powder
  • Trim the cardstock to form a tag and round the edges
  • Punch a small hole on Dusk Cardstock with the leather punch, then punch a 3/8" circle around it to create a reinforcement for the tag
  • Attach the reinforcement to the card and tie the silver cord to the tag
  • Curl the cord with a bone folder
  • Assemble the card, using foam dots for the tag
Hope you like the clean, contemporary look of this card - try it with other color combinations too.  Thanks for visiting our blog throughout 2011 - I look forward to sharing more ideas with you in 2012.  Happy New Year!
