And now, for some inspiration from our Designer, Tami Sanders, to kick off this Hop!!
Hello!
Tami here today with a card that is bright and colorful AND features two great stamp sets from The {Stamps} Of Life as well as Stephanie Barnard ColorBox Premium Dye Inks...
The Kites2Fly set includes parts and pieces that you to mix and match in order to design your own kite. The set also includes clouds, birds and sentiments. I love that Stephanie includes "solid" stamps as well as "design" stamps. That way, you can stamp your own background colors and then add a design in a different color on top of it.
That's what I did to create my kite. First I stamped the frame using Licorice Dye Ink, then I stamped the upper left part of the kite with the "solid" stamp and Bubblegum ink, then overstamped with the small floral design stamp using Guava. This created a light pink background with the bright pink mini floral print on top. The at the upper right, I stamped first with Banana, then used the star mini design stamp inked with Tangerine Ink. Sky Ink was used at the lower left, with a striped pattern overstamped with Blueberry. Finally, Grape was used to stamp the mini dot pattern at the lower right...
Stephanie Barnard ColorBox Premium Dye Inks are bright and vivid and come in 12 fabulous colors.
To create the sky, I used one of my favorite techniques to create a soft tone on tone background. I inked a large acrylic block lightly with Sky Dye Ink. Then I "stamped" the block on a piece of white cardstock. This created a very light blue background that had some variations in it. Then I inked the block again, this time heavier, and stamped again. Once I stamped, I rubbed the block back and forth on the paper to remove all the ink. This created the darker areas...
The other stamp set that was used is called Stamps4FancyLabels, it includes
4 different labels as well as lots of sentiments. I used a label from
the set to frame the sentiment...
To add a few fun details, a black pen and white gel pen were used to add dots around the border once it had been distressed with Sky Ink applied with Stylus & Tip...
Twine from The Twinery was used to create the kite string and used as an accent along the right side of the card...
We'll be doing a Blog Hop with The Twinery tomorrow, so come back and check out some GREAT projects using baker's twine.
